
The death notice included here is on behalf of all in Castleisland and Scartaglen and in recognition of the solid friendship built up over many years with the late Mr. Van Hensbergen’s son, Martin and his friends with the Patrick O’Keeffe Traditional Music Festival and the Scart based World Fiddle Day and Handed Down events.
On behalf of all associated with the events mention we send our sincere condolences to Martin, his siblings and family.
The death has occurred of Willem Karel van Hensbergen, Cappyaughna, Kenmare Road, Glengarriff, Co. Cork.
Willem Karel van Hensbergen, Royal Dutch Naval officer, was born on January 7th. 1948, and died on February 26th 2024.
He retired and was living in Glengarriff for 24 years. Willem Karel is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Jennifer, sons Johan and Martin, daughter-in-law Francine, sisters Hanne and Emma and brother-in-law Dick.
No flowers please.
Friends of Bantry General Hospital
The family would very much appreciate a charitable donation to the Friends of Bantry General Hospital to say thank you for the professional and compassionate care given to Willem Karel by the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital. They are especially indebted to Dr Brian Carey and Dr Mark Hannon, for their care.

Mr.Van Hensbergen’s Funeral Arrangements
Reposing in Coakleys Funeral Home, Chapel Street, Bantry on Thursday, February 29th from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
The cremation will be private for the family in accordance with Dutch practices.
